Note: Malaysian students in Australia intending to stay in Malaysia Hall Sydney for the first semester of 2008 session are invited to apply. The closing date for the application is 31 December 2007. Results of the selection will be e-mailed on 15 January 2008. Places for residents are limited and only students who qualify will be accepted to reside at Malaysia Hall.

Malaysia Hall serves as an accommodation and social center for the student community in Sydney. It is generally preferred by first-year students due to its convenience: availability of Malaysian food and internet connection, while seeing familiar faces all around you.

Rooms
Each room includes two single beds and en-suite bathroom. The rooms are fully furnished with built-in wardrobe and study desk.

Facilities
Facilities in Malaysia Hall includes:

  • prayer room
  • computer room with broadband internet connection
  • dining hall (bring your own cutleries)
  • shared refrigerator, electric kettle and microwave oven
  • study room
  • laundry room with dryer and ironing board

There is no fan or heater in each room.

Rates:

  • Undergraduates: $4 per person per night
  • Postgraduates: $6 per person per night
  • Guests/visitors: $12 per person per night

Rates are non-inclusive of food. Foods are available for students at $6 per person per day (includes only breakfast and dinner).

Distance from university:
Malaysia Hall is

  • 15 minutes walk from UNSW
  • 20-40 minutes by bus from University of Sydney or UTS
  • 45-60 minutes by bus from Macquarie University

Terms and conditions:

  • Malaysian citizenship a must (proof of citizenship required)
  • Priority is given to full-time students and their visiting family
  • Students must apply on behalf of their visiting family
  • Students must be registered with MSDA
  • Application must be at least 14 days before applied date
  • Room are subject on availability and MSDA have the right to refuse or reject any application without notice.

Application:
To apply for residency in Malaysia Hall Sydney, you are required to download and fill up the respective form below. The filled-up form has to be faxed to the number above, followed up by notification to the Assistant Warden by email or phone.

  • For students: Each application is applicable only for one semester’s stay. Priority will be given to newly-arrived first-year students. Download application form here.
  • For guests or temporary accommodation: Non-student guests are allowed to stay for up to 3 days, subject to availability. Full-time students staying temporarily are allowed to stay up to 3 weeks. Download application form here.
